Seek Original Images

It is important to create an image in the reader’s mind. This isn’t just about painting the setting or describing a character. Let the reader see the movements and the subtle lines of your story. Make it as visually rich in their mind as it is when watching a movie. But the thing about writing is that you can bring the reader into a world that is more complex than any movie. Writing offers the readers the full sensory experience, limited only by the power of the words and the imagination of the reader.

These works are popular because they speak to people. They tell a story. Pick one of these imagines and describe it. Not just what it looks like, but all the senses. Bring us there. Show us the action and the way that it feels to be in that place. Don’t focus on telling us the full story. Tell us just what is happening in the picture; in that exact moment.
