WNB Diary

I open my eyes and look over at the clock. The large water cup and the coffee cup (which is half filled with tea) obscure the view, but with a tilt of my head I can see the glowing green numbers. 0300. Fine. I pull the electric blanket up closer to my chin while still laying on my side. The blanket is still on, it is warm and soothing. The surface is soft and fluffy. The side against me is a cream white. WNB Diary

Swirling snow. The headlights cutting a line out in front of me, marking out a brighter white. Slick road beneath me. A quiet hushed voice from the book whispering to me, but I’m only half listening as I watch the row of traffic moving in front of me. I’ve left early, so there is plenty of time to get to work on time. The drive feels lazy, like a ride in a cocoon. WNB Diary

The building is old. But it doesn’t look worn out. Parts have been added to it; giving it more function. Over the years, it has always been a hospital, but it’s use has changed. The walk way changes from asphalt paving to red brick upon approaching the entry. Christmas lights glow blue in the trees that line the walk. Cold rain leaves a sheen on the ground which reflects the light mixing the blue of the Christmas lights and the yellow of the entry lights.
